Extensive Park Space and Trails
McKinley partnered with California West Communities as investor and executive committee member in the acquisition and development of an 1,800-unit master planned community. The project is a joint venture with Lennar and Shea Homes. The site is a redevelopment of a former rock quarry, located in Carroll Canyon in the Mira Mesa neighborhood in San Diego. The project will also include recreational parks, a community center, a retail center, and natural preserve. Cal West, Shea Homes, and Lennar expect to be delivering homes in 2021.
Nearly 40 acres of park space and 8 miles of trails will be included at 3Roots, preserving almost 50% of the property as open space. This preservation will reconnect and enhance the existing creek channel on the site. There will be multi-modal transit options available, connecting residents and visitors to the newly extended San Diego Trolley Line. 3Roots has concentrated the reclamation process of the old quarry on three principles: Legacy, Connectivity, and Responsibility. These roots will maintain and enhance the foundation of the Mira Mesa community.
